My projects include grant writing, planning, evaluation, and communications for non-governmental and governmental organizations. Here are a few websites that I developed: Water for the Ages, Interdisciplinary Development Working Group, Groundwater Reserves, and Groundwater Network.
Sensible Sanitation in North America for Public Hygiene Lets Us Stay Human – Current
I organized an official visit for the president of the World Toilet Organization, and created a detailed press-kit for him with news features like this Willamette Weekly interview. I presented “Advocating Sensible Sanitation in North America: What Works” and hosted a liveblog at the World Toilet Summit in South Africa. I also presented “When Sensible Sanitation is Waterless Sanitation: Real-World Ideas” at a university panel. I contributed content to the website. I assisted the organization in examining possible routes for 501c3 incorporation.
United Nations UNFPA Working Group for UN Graduate Study Programme – 2013
I worked with a team to create a project proposal for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Our working paper “Reducing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence among Adolescents in Post-Emergency Situation in Haiti” was drafted by graduate students in fields of public policy, sociology, anthropology, economics, and gender studies. It was necessary for us to complete a background analysis of the situation, examine legal and institutional frameworks, and develop a program strategy (e.g. goals, objectives, and activities) and evaluation plan.
Renewable Energy Technology Program for Columbia Gorge Community College – 2011 to 2012
I was an academic advisor for a renewable energy program at a community college. I created and implemented a communications plan. We worked with different vendors to develop a new outreach materials including short promotional videos, brochures, student profile features, a virtual tour, and related materials. I assisted a student club in hosting a renewable energy film festival, acquiring film rights and promoting the festival in the community.
Neighborhood Groundwater Network for Oregon Department of Water Resources – 2008 to 2009
This was a pilot initiative for citizen-science groundwater measurement and awareness in Oregon. It was a collaborative effort between a state agency and Oregon Sea Grant. I created a needs assessment for the program, developed a program plan, outlined a program time-line, developed outreach materials including two presentations, implemented the program, and evaluated the program.
